Basic Creative Tools: Having just a few key tools on hand makes being in the creative zone easy and carefree.
Hole Punch– use these to make holes in paper, cardboard, card stock and tin foil. Creating holes in two separate items creates and opportunity to join them together with string, wire or zip ties.
Masking Tape– with 60 yards of stick- but not to sticky masking tape let’s creators tear or cut for the task at hand.
Pencil or Pen– Drawing, writing or marking can be an important step in creating. Have one on hand so you don’t have to leave you creative flow to search for one.
Ruler– measuring distances or drawing out straight lines can be necessary steps in the creative process. Rulers are a great tool to help kids figure things out by working with numbers.
Scissors -be sure to choose scissors that match the age of the creator but have a stronger pair in your back pocket for tougher task of cardboard.
Scissor tip* for fabric use, make sure to have a pair of scissors that are just for fabric. They can even be kid sized scissors. Using them for just fabric materials will keep them nice and sharp for a long time.
String- there are lots of varieties of sting that include yarn. It’s great for attaching, wrapping, tying, or hanging creations. Using utility string which are ling strands woven together are sturdier than yarns which are shorter fibers that are joined together.
Basic Advanced Tools: These tools are best when used by older kids or a parent for younger children. * Note: please use discretion and keep safety at the forefront of your mind when allowing kids to use these tools for themselves.
