More Win/Win!

It’s the march of the Emperor Penguins!
Student’s from Saint Patricks Day School were assigned to make 3D penguins as a homework  project. We had fun building this tall breed of bird out of cardboard, a most versatile material in my opinion. The girls who brought them to life had much fun painting and noting how their efforts brought a species to life in two short hours.
Ah, the beauty of imagination.

Win/Win!

It’s Leprechuan season at CReATE! Kids from schools throughout the land are prepping, building, taping, painting and fashioning traps to catch those rascaly fairies. Thanks to home assignments from M.A.T.E.S, Maple Elementary and White Oak Elementary to name a few kids are  crafting catchers with skill, collaboration, and inventiveness to impress!

These fancy clear boxes come right on time for our seasonal Leprechaun Trap fun.
Let’s see what ends up inside…

Weekly Wow

Delaney’s sister is going to college in the fall and will put an emphasis on photography.
Delaney loves her sister and has wanted to show her support of her college decision so she was inspired to make her this camera.
When I asked Delaney about her creative process she asked me if it was ok that she use a lot of black tape to make something special. She had taken two plastic items and wrapped them together with layers of the masking tape. I could easily see where her creation was going.

I often note creations being made for loved ones as gifts from the heart. Now, Delaney’s sister will have a memento of her and can carry it with her throughout her lifelong adventures as a big sister.

Mid Week Wow

CReATE STUDIO turned 5 years old today. The studio began as a seed (an idea in my head) and grew into a little sapling (my garage) and has steadily grown roots since then. What a wonderful journey it has been so far, with so much goodness in store.
We have grown this much I know, into a place where are people are creating equally.
Our roots are growing strong.

Ladies Night

We had a blast last night making banners and bunting. The only thing the ladies needed to keep in mind when digging through the fabric basket was to choose colors and patterns that they were drawn to, not what they thought they should choose.
The results were fantastic, personal and every bit fabulous as banners and bunting came to life to reflect the beautiful women who made them.

A Hidden Treasure

As I was sorting through a bag of donations, I came upon a piece of paper, extensively folded.
I thought I would just shred it, make it usable in another way then realized it had a pattern and was a bag.  There must be something special if it was here. I unfolded it to find a treasure, a sentiment that warmed my heart at the sight of it. It’s true, life is a special occasion! I don’t treat it as such enough.
This little ditty is too good to let go of, it’s going on the wall of my office nook to remind me, to remind all who see it to dress up more often.
Sometimes it’s the simplest things that make the day special.

Thanks Hallmark (of course the bag was theirs)

Leprechaun Trap!

Malaya had a job to do! Operation Leprechaun trap! She is in a class competition to make clever traps to capture rascally fairies! Inspired by a Family Fun Magazine idea page on our idea wall and a Quaker Oaks container she got the job done with all things green! She is sure to be in the running to catch a good one!
That’s a win/win for Malaya and her school because they get back for school projects done at CReATE!

Switch Plates

We get these interesting plastic moldings from time to time. They present opportunities and challenges to those who use them, what more can you ask for imagination to bloom?

Canvas

Oliver and his family came to the studio the other day with a project that needed some finishing touches.
The canvas was already painted with the colorful octopus but he needed an undersea setting so he could swim freely. At school the kids have been learning all about ocean life so this visit was a great opportunity to look for things that reflected the sea environment they had been learning about.
Oliver chose items carefully, being sure they conveyed the ocean world just as he had learned about them. Sand, goggly eyes, seashells and bubble wrap water were all great choices to get the job done.
What a clever learning experience. Now that’s a Win/Win!
