The Kindness wall Says it all!

Today is National Random Acts of Kindness Day!
While our Kindness Wall is not random, the date does seem a fitting occasion to establish it at a school. That’s what Troop 61133 thought. Here’s a little backstory; They knew they wanted to do something to support kindness at their school, White Oak Elementary in Simi Valley and they knew they wanted it to be sustainable. They reached out to me about our Kindness Wall project at Agoura High School and in the studio. It took time to get the wheels of approval turning for the project on their campus but they stuck with it.
Finally, last week the troop and I got to work together to create our wall format. We painted and planned and then when it was made they had it mounted it in their schools cafeteria. They had a ceremony for the school to showcase this kindness legacy they would be leaving at White Oak as 5th graders nearing the end of their time there.
They have created a place and space where everyone at school can participate in sharing kindness year round. They have become the change they wish to see and see it they will through the words that are shared on the wall and the attitudes that are sparked in the day to day of their school community that will ripple outward in a pay-it-forward way.
Working with Girl Scout troops to create positivity is a huge win/win for all.
I hope this campus collaboration the beginning. Working with other troops at other schools to spread kindness throughout our community and beyond is in line with the leadership of scouting and the positivity the organization strives for .

Draw it!

We had fun working with these juniors on their “Drawing Badge” were they sketched, doodled, shaded, and colored a person or thing to incorporate into a 3D creation.
Mission accomplished. They definitely used our resources wisely.

Wisely…

We had a great time with Daisy Troop 61024 who came to work on the Girl Scout creed-using their resources wisely.
They brought along empty Kleenex boxes that we converted into houses. This house has all the fixin’s including a tiny Styrofoam puppy who lives there.
Who needs flashy stuff when the imaginings you have come to life with the simplest of things.

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday!
What a great day we have planned.
It’s our special Two for One deal day at the studio so come on in and bring a friend or family member and pay for just one of you!
We’re also excited about today’s Girls Club session at the studio which is all about speaking up and the girls will craft their own megaphones!
We welcome Troop 61094 who will work on their “Using Resources Wisely” Daisy petal with us!
What Fun!

We Love October!

We are so excited that it’s October!

We’ve got great things planned so be sure to spend some creative time with us.

In addition to drop-in D.I.Y. creating we have a new feature at CReATE where we’ll be spotlighting one of our core material themes with ideas, inspirations and a top or two. This month we’re spotlighting paper and it’s many uses in creative expression. Take a look at our Ociber banner here and you’ll see it’s versatility in this one project alone!

We’ll be on the road a bit this month, spending a weekend at The City of Agoura Hills Reyes Adobe Days to spark creativity as well as Westlake Village’s City Celebration with our @WestlakeVillageRocks good vibes rock painting. We’ll be at E.A.R.T.H.S Magnet for spooky fun too.

We have our awesome lineup of creative outlets in Two for One Tuesdays, Easy Project Wednesdays, Homeschool Thursdays, Machine Sewing, Girls Club Strong, Messy Toddler Art  Fun, Birthday Parties, Troop visits, Spotlight on Paper, Try-it Cart fun with Oil Pastels, Featured Material of The Week items and a FREE Crafty Happy Hour this Friday from 3-5.
Let’s get our creativity flowing starting today with Two for One Tuesday where two CReATE to the price of one, that’s extra fun!

Exploring…

This troop came to CReATE to work on their drawing patch, taking the same image and using two different mediums to draw it. Being Girls Scouts, the girls got right in the groove of using resources wisely by painting on recycled paper and making take home canvases from an Amazon Shipping box. What a fun Saturday afternoon.

Happy September

We can’t wait to share a month of creativity, exploration, discovery, learning, celebration, creativity flow and connection with you…

Summer!

Schools out for some of our area schools as of today!
We so excited to share summer fun with everyone!

We have a few summer tricks up our sleeves with a special summer series of Girls Club at CReATE for 5 sessions starting  June 27.  We’re excited to be a part of Camp Conejo for Girl Scouts June 29th and  30th and the theme is 80’s!

Then, we have our in-house 1/2 day camp series, “Camp CReATE” July 10th-28th.

We’re also looking forward to field trip visits from some of our local camp organizations like YMCA and Boys and Girls Club.

Let the fun begin!

Working on it…

We loved having a creative visit from Troop 65404 who came to CReATE to make something special for Mom while working on their Daisy Petal themed, “Caring and Kind”.

They were thoughful girls with a flair for pretty in pink. We just love these frames!
