Inspiration is everywhere!

This wigwam at the Satwiwa Center in Newbury Park reminds me of smaller scale creations recent field trip students made for their Indian studies. There is nothing like a hands-on process to deepen learning.

We love having schools visit us for field trips where they can have a fun hands-on experience to connect to their classroom  learning.

School Projects!

This is a shoebox discuised as a Turtle with a micro view of its cell system by Gavin. Area middle schools call this  “The 7th Grade Cell Project” that students are assigned to do at home. We say, do them with us!

We’ve got tons of materials that make a great fit for projects of all sizes and shapes. The hands-on process flows, the learning deepens and the mess stays with us PLUS,  we give $ back to your school when you do your project with us making a win/win experience for all!

Weekly WOW!

Spirit Sticks of all shapes and sizes wowed us with the flair of all the ladies who made them. Each stick has personal meaning to honor dreams and goals. Powerful.

Sign it.

An artist should always sign her work.

We had fun hanging out at the Westlake Village City Celebration event today, providing open ended art with our recycled materials.

So Messy!

Sometimes you just have to feel it. Hands on  exploring through touch gives so much information and wonder to the curious toddler. It’s how they process the big, big world.

Crafternoon Fun!

Looking forward to our “Mystery Plaster Excavations” Crafternoon class today from 3:30-5pm

So much to discover…

$15 per participant

Skill!

We’re so glad we added Hand Sewing to our Sewing Class line-up. It is such a valuable hands-on skill for the whole spectrum of creative expression from practicle repairing or button sewing to making clothes or a mixed media mash-up. A taste of  Home-Ec never hurt anybody.

Save the date, our next Hand Sewing Class is Wednesday, November 2nd from 4-6pm

The signs are all there.

In preperation of the upcoming Westlake City Celebration event in our community this Saturday we were sign makers tonight. Thanks to these gems, all who attend the event will know just where to go for family fun.

See you there 3-6pm for our CReATE eco art booth and 3-9 for the whole event! It’s gonna be a blast!

Hurray for Tuesday!

It’s TWO for ONE Tuesday at CReATE!

Two can create for the price of one.

Come explore your creativity with a friend or sibling and pay for one!

Weekly WOW!

Lucy is participating in the Reflections program through school this year. “What Is Your Story” is the theme.

She used her time at CREATE to create the visual aspect of her submission, a self potrait that gave us a little view of her. This is the portrait of a beautiful girl with a good hearted story.
