Creativity is…

Creativity is inside everyone.
I got my hands on a copy of the August / September 2017 issue of Family Fun Magazine reading the article, “The Art of Being Creative” by Jennifer King Lindsey who wrote a great piece about Creativity. Hurray to our friend Meri Cherry who is mentioned in the article too!
As I read through the pages I felt a resounding yes rise in my throat. I have come to the conclusion myself that creativity is an aspect of our inner mechanics as humans. We all have it, BUT, we don’t all think we do. That’s why CReATE lays it’s focus on creativity for all, art fun for all. I know that each person is creative, I also know that creativity spans reaches of our thinking capabilities far beyond what we tap into. The family Fun article suggests and I know it for sure myself, that creativity grows when exercised.
I think of creativity as a brain muscle. When it’s used regularly, like any other muscle, it strengthens. Our thinking options expand and new possibilities grow. Creativity is often linked to problem solving and critical thinking, in fact I’d say it’s deeply woven into those processes.
We tend to get caught up on the word and the idea of creativity because it’s often branded as an artistic, even craft skill. If we don’t connect with those avenues of self expression we assume we don’t have a creative bone. Think again, in practical ways we bring creativity to our scheduled days, our balanced checkbooks and our planned meals. Creativity is always with us, in our day to day as well as the unique moments and it’s ready to jump into action any time we ask. Call on your creativity. It can’t wait to serve you.

Try something new.

Come hang out and create with us today. We’re open from 12-4pm.

You can make something in a creative realm you haven’t thought of before. Take this denim clutch purse by Sydney. She had never explore sewing before. She learned about construction and machine Sewing in the process of making it. She was so proud when she was done.

That’s a great feeling!

Happy Friday!

We’ve go hands-on fun for you today.

Love these easy to make”Love Blocks” made at our Girls Club class today.

Love is a powerful force of positivity for all and with a little yarn painting and some 2×4 bits we’re  spreading the word.

It’s Tuesday!

See you soon.

Exploring…

This troop came to CReATE to work on their drawing patch, taking the same image and using two different mediums to draw it. Being Girls Scouts, the girls got right in the groove of using resources wisely by painting on recycled paper and making take home canvases from an Amazon Shipping box. What a fun Saturday afternoon.

Mixed.

Loving this mixed media portrait with Grandma. Love brings out the best in people.

Everything unfolded. First came the styrofoam sheet, then the twigs, the story was set with an od to beloved Grandma, then the painting flowed. It’s marvelous to watch a creators process unfold into the story it wants to tell. This one appears to be a love story or a story of love in its purest form.

Today!

Happy Thursday! Drop in for creative fun if your out of school today. We are open from 11am to 6pm. If your a homeschooling family, enjoy our homeschool rate of $7 per creator today and everyday.

Let’s CReATE!

Imagine.

If you could make apps that got you out and about doing fun things with friends, what would they be?

This was just a little of the fun we had a Girls Club Strong at CReATE today.

Would you look at that…

Pondering the mesmerizing wonders of finger painting, one of the best modes of artistic expression around.

Thinking back on my favorite things about being a mom, I relished the times when I could put all the daily house tasks aside to just be with my kids. It wasnt easy to get there but It was so worth the state of wonder I would climb into as I got present with my kids. There was a deep sense of joy that came from the state of marveling at whatever they were doing that my kids always seemed to linger in. Bliss.

My kids are older now, in college, but I still get to put the (studio) tasks aside and join the kids at the studio in their states of wonder as they tape, glue or finger paint their way through creativity.
