Weekly WOW!

Tis’ school project season!
In 6th grade, It’s been a bugs life for Noah and, she has risen to the occasion with her school assigned project to replicate her insect. She applied everything she had been learning in science to her winged friends- common house flies. She gave them their attributes; wings, legs, all seeing eyes and their distinct body structure, somehow making them seem less… pesky by re-using our everyday items in interesting new ways.
Who’d have thought a plastic water bottle would become the fly’s trademark, transparent wings.
Clearly Noah did.

Ava is a wiz with socks! She can make them into almost anything, so it was no surprise that she fashioned this plain brown sock into a friendly Beaver (complete with a fancy dam house).
What a great example of imagination and innovation, all with a mismatched sock!

This card reminds me of how things were done when I was a kid, writing notes back and fourth with friends. Amelia made this nice beaded card for her pal Ollie, making a declaration of friendship.
I have a feeling this marks the beginning of a long and beautiful relationship.

It’s Mission time and Olivis was up for the task!
She knew how she wanted it to look. She chose a fresh perspective for her missions layout giving the viewer a more personal peak at the grounds inside her mission assignments compound by creating a facade of the mission itself to peak through.
A look though reveals beautiful hilltop surroundings, a horse in a stall, a scarecrow minding the fields and a fountain flowing free.
This is an A+ project for sure and a Win/Win for Sycamore Canyon School.

Amanda was inspired by a veggie tray.
She saw the potential for a quaint little room to house the tiniest girl and the coziest bed with the sweetest flowers by her side while a little lamp shed light in the corner. So lovely.

Benny and his mom have so much fun creating together. They like to make things that move so a race car seemed a perfect fit for their crafty time together at the studio. Mom took care of assemblage, Benny took care of the aesthetics. They made quite a team don’t you think!

These jars were just jars without Christy’s inspired attention.
She had seen up cycled jars like these in a magazine or online somewhere and wanted her own. She spent careful time considering the kind of toy she wanted to don the top of each jar, and rightly so, they are an expression of her interests. I wonder what treasures she’ll keep inside?
I love to see how something simple and everyday becomes personally unique and special.

Zoe was inspired when she walked through our the door.
She wanted to make Sully from Monsters Inc. so that is what she set out to do. With help from Piper (CReATE staff menmber) Zoe fashioned a slick version of the fluffy character with a blue  bounty of masking tape and stuffed with fabric scraps, some of which became friendly features.
What a cool character!

Dads rock!
Olivia loves her dad and wanted to let him know just how much. What better way than with a hand written Thank You note. What better way to display it than to hang it. The feather trim and her drawings make it even more special.
This card is a a keeper.

Let’s escape to far off lands to meet the famous Rapunzel!

Living in a tall tower must be tough but in this version we like to think that Rapunzel can come and go as she pleases what with her beautiful long tresses made of yarn, and the fake foliage that wraps around the tower. This maiden looks happy  just to be, thanks to the few everyday items and the big imagination that now make her real.
