We had a fun and festive field trip morning with the K/1 kids from O.P.E.N. Classroom of Thousand Oaks.
They made personalized holiday ornaments and keepsakes of their own designs for family and friends from wood blocks and such.

Remaking jewelry to earn a patch had it’s perks for these Girl Scouts.
During their visit to tge studio we talked about jewelry, the kinds there are, why it’s worn, how it’s worn in different parts of the world and learned to work with a few simple jewelry tools. The girls had so much fun taking apart broken and cast off jewelry that we keep on hand to make new pieces tgeyvwanted to wear and give. learning something new is part of what scouting offers and I’d say these girls did it in style.

Our Weekly WOW wasn’t a singular project this week. It was a mode of creativity, one that ripples far and wide when it comes to learning. Oak Hills students had a very Hands-On experience during their field trip to CReATE for a project based learning experience.
WOW hands-on is, was and always will be the greatest resource for learning. That’s the wow in wow. Try it, work it, make it. That’s the way to learn
Planning is key. Brookside 5th graders know how to get the task accomplished from learning and planing at achool to making at CReATE.
We saw first hand the rewards of project project based learning. The students were thoughtful, energized, collaborative, and considerate. They are kids and kids are smart.
This is the stuff of leaders in the making.
We can’t wait to share a month of creativity, exploration, learning, celebration and connection with you…

Duing a YMCA summer camp visit to the yesterday I caught this sight of a boy sketching out his future. I think he was inspired by the sheet of scarbook paper he grabbed from our printed paper colletction.
Now he has outlined his future in a manner of visual goal setting and he may not even know it yet.
Had a blast with our CVUSD summer camp field trip kids . This cardboard baseball cap was one of so many clever creations. This crew really knew how to let their creativity fly.
One of the perks of summer camp field trips to CReATE are catching creativity as it sparks in the counselors attending.
Looks like these cassette tapes are becoming fast friends after Camp Agoura Hills hit our scene.
Often creativity is sparked when in an environment that fosters it, be it a board meeting, a coffee clatch or in this case, a camp visit to our studio. The best part is, when creativity is shared it grows and the whispers of it flow long after that shared moment. It follows the creators to other moments and tasks where it may be needed. Nice to know that the positivity of creativity fosters more of the same.
