Super cute!
Yesterday I provided a private sewing class with Amy, a CReATE Customer who I now feel I can call a friend.
We spent two hours together as teacher and lesrner. I showed her some sewing basics I like to use to build a connection to sewing. As she worked her fabric, sewing square inside of square she remarked that it was pleasing to follow a tempo to machine sew. I found that the more she sewed, the more we talked, the more we talked, the more we connected. Connection happens to be one of the three foundational components of CReATE STUDIO. Reuse, Creativity and Connection underscore all of what we do, all of what we provide and here I was in the middle of connecting myself with a wonderful woman over the task of sewing.
Being in the present, sewing and threading and untangling the little hiccups that sewing can have was soothing as we talked about family, ideals and of course, sewing. We were both in the moment and it felt really good to be there. Yes, this is why connection is one of our key pieces. It fills us up and warms our soul. Connection is one of the basic needs we have as humans Author and Researcher Brene Brown would tell us. Yes, I can see first hand the value of connection and I’m so glad to provide a space where Connection is a thing. It’s part of what you get and the gettin’ s good.
Fall brings with it great smells. Try our Creating At Home Idea #12-Making Pomanders – an old fashioned treasure.
This may require a trip to the store but is well worth it.
Two simple ingredients will get you on your way to a bowl of aromatic goodness…
You will need:
-Oranges (just one or a whole bag!)
-Jar of Whole Cloves
Now for the fun part: Make your clove patterns on the oranges by pressing the pointed end of a whole clove into the skin of a whole orange with the peel still on. you can play around with designs and patterns.
If you make a large batch of Pomanders you can display them in a bowl and enjoy their Sweet smell.
Mint Tins!
These tiny tins are ready for creativity! They’d make cool gift boxes, storage containers, tiny robots or even tiny houses. Whats more, they’re not heading to a landfill because they have more to do!
Let’s see what they become this week!
Love these keepsake ornaments made by little hands with Artist Renee Fly of @flygurl_designs at yesterday’s workshop. To capture their drawn styles by printmaking was fun stuff to watch unfold.
This month our Pinspired Night had a little influence by a throwback project from #countrylivingmag from last year. We love the way these Chicken Wire Christmas trees turned out!
Uplcyling rules!
We had fun with Troop 61037 exploring painting for a Daisy Petal. Painting was one of Girl Scout Founder, Juliette Gordon Lowe’s personal interests and recycling is one of ours so the girls got a kick out of the painting process using recycled stuff.
Looks like the Ice Queen left her crown at the studio today. No wondering a bit chilly in here.
A sneak peak at our Pinspired Night. I think snowpeople are going to be the go to for our crafty folks tonight.
