We’re in the Acorn!

We’re honored to be included in Whitney Schwartz’s Healthy Lifestyle Includes Reusing, Recycling Trash article on page 32 of last week’s issue of The Acorn Newspaper mentioned as one of the local places that reuse and recycle to help our planet! We love bridging a connection between creativity and recycling for reuse. Whitney’s article gave us inspiration as we learned in her article about other ways local businesses are making an environmental connection.

The power to Chose

Follow-through.
“When you pick the things you want to do, you’re more inclined to see them through”
This Mary Poppins style rhyme came to me as I noticed that when kids have the freedom to chose the creating they want to do they tend to follow-through. Bob Buford’s quote; “Don’t just dream big; follow through” marks the value of what I see when kids have a choice in what they do. Its easy to give them choices at CReATE, they find the materials that interest them and then find their way through their big ideas and inspirations make them happen because along the way they get invested, they get magic of follow through.
Giving kids opportunities to make their own choices is more than just that. It’s making a real connection to ideas becoming real, making dreams come true, all because of their inner drive to persevere. Each time they follow through on something it builds on their stick-to-itness so they have it for some of life’s bigger opportunities, quests and challenges.
Big dreams become choices to make and actions to take and to think,  it can all start with times kids can choose what they want to do.

Meet us at the Library!

Come have fun with us at The Thousand Oaks Library today between 1-4pm.
We’ll be hosting a FREE Pinspired Family Crafternoon where you can make wood signs, picnic boards and kid car boards while supplies last.
Meet us in the Marvin E. Smith room.
We’ll see you there!

The projects we’ll have on hand at this event are inspired by the projects we do for our regular Pinspired adult night at the studio where it’s all about hands-on making your way.

*The studio is open as usual from 12-4pm too!

Handmade Sock Friends.

Love these cactus friends made from a Christmas sock! The best part was the satisfaction the kids got from making them!

Home Sweet Home

Who could resist this little rest spot outside a mini fairy home from Camp CReATE this week.
Life is about the simple pleasures after all.

Fun @ CReATE

This little guy was intent on getting the stick stuck.
We had fun making stick-y structures in styrofoam during Messy Toddler Art time yesterday.
These messy mornings take a break for July but get back to the business of mess on Friday, August 3rd.
Until then, it’s Camp CReATE and more!
Come play.

Style and purpose

Love this no-sew bag for the on-the-go-gal. Hot glue works so well with fabric’s porous nature.

Besides being chic, this bag is mindful, it’s made from a cast-off scrap from my daughters sweater revamp which keeps it in-style instead of in-landfill! Hurray!
