This week CReATE’s featured posts seemed to have a common thread between them. They each stemmed from a thoughtful place. The awesome Fenway Park was made by two boys who wanted to make a gift for a friend. A birthday tiara and pendant was made for a special cousin’s birthday. A mailbox sticker spouts a positive perspective for all and furry pet adornments and toys will do good for those in need.
Sharing kindness is what makes the world go round.

Tuesday, August 12, 2014What started as a stuffed sock evolved with bold fabric scraps and trims to make up this whimsically tribal looking doll.
Macy mixed and matched all the pieces she was drawn to and with her moms help put them together in a most intriguing way.
No tribal great one could be complete without a head dress and satchel filled with special potions, foods and tools- she thought of all the details to make this doll complete. No doubt he will stay in the family for many years to come.

Monday, August 11, 2014These plastic Chargers have so much to say…
When they grow up, they want to be warrior shields and flying saucers, the foundation for a silly face or a tray to store cool stuff. There are lots of cool possibilities.
What fun they will be this week!

Monday, August 4, 2014It was so fun to watch three generations of women creating the other day.
Daughter, Mother and Grandmother were all a buzz with ideas and possibilities as they mined through bins looking for that one thing that was going to ignite their creative process. June enjoyed watching what her daughter and granddaughter were doing as her creative juices simmered.
She knew what she wanted to do, but how to build it was the question. I became captivated with the layers she used to develop the form into the smart looking owl it became. Under his feathery exterior lies a core plastic water bottle along with a section of plastic apple packaging. Then fabric, then more only textury on the surface. The feathers, by the way, are fake leaves cut into the feathers that now rest on this who’s who of an owl’s span.
Here is art imitating nature.

Monday, July 28, 2014Who knew that puzzle pieces could be so versatile? Mama Amy got inspired when sifting through the bin of puzzle and game pieces. Amazing how something so simple, just gluing puzzle pieces together could make such a statement ( I must admit, I love initials too).
Imagine a whole name in puzzle letters! Wow!
