Wood Pieces

Wood is always a good material for building a home, so why not use it on a home for  feathered friends.

The wood pieces bin provided Julia with all kinds of scrap bits for puzzling together an eye-catching surface on a kleenex box frame. Some film strips on the roof will help whisk any rain or dew drops away when the house is nestled in a tree outdoors.

The golf tee made a perfect perch for sitting and singing the day away or heading indoors for some cozy home time.

Fabric

Fernando’s Pillow Monster is as charming as they come.

Crafted from an inspired idea to make a monster pillow Fernando searched the fabric bin for just the right soft stuff to make his vision real. Hot glue joined the vision together for a roaring monster man. So cuddly cute!

Cardboard Sheets

Talk about up cycling! Cardboard can be so much more than layers of  compressed paper…

Once a  giant furniture box packed with a chair , the box for this creation was cut down to become many nice sheets of cardboard ready to put together in just the right way for whoever would use it.

Annie and Keylie thought it was the perfect material  for a project they planned to collaborate on. They turned a few sheets they gathered into a nice cozy home for a little cork family. Once the structure was made they worked on all the important amenities, a roaring fire, a little baby in a crib, nice big windows, a loving family dog and a pretty table and table cloth with a good book. The house was made and happy. What a nice place to spend their time, but do be quite, the baby is sleeping.

Plastic food container

Seeing the possibilities in the everyday, that’s what we do at CReATE.

For Alexa, a fruit cup container was a natural lead to the head of a doll she was making. It gave her just the right space for facial features with buttons and a fabulous do of yarn!

In minutes she created a little friend that boosts her confidence in her abilities and makes her smile wide.

Shredded Paper

Love makes the world go around, that’s what’s been said.

It’s the sentiment that Gwynn wanted to share with her shredded paper creation that simply says, Love.

She was inspired by  something she saw in the studio so she made her own interpretation with a bit of shredded paper, some white glue and a touch of sparkle.

Well said Gwynn!

Wood Blocks

Ever been someplace that you wanted to recapture, to visit again and again?

I think we all have and so had Matson.

He’d recently been to Universal Studios and had a blast watching the Water World show so, when he saw all the different  blocks and wood pieces in the wood pieces bin at CReATE he got inspired to recreate the scene that brought him so much joy.

He took his time in setting the scene he remembered so well, complete with a pulley, water, stage and house  so that when he was done we could all almost hear stuntmen huffing and puffing across building tops and waterways during a live action show!

Molded Cardboard

Sometimes the creations on display in the studio spark  inspiration. This was the case for three 7 year old boys at a birthday party this weekend. They saw a 4th Grade mission sample on the wall and that was all it took to jumpstart their imaginations for a collaborative mission of their own making. They used molded cardboard pieces as the mission itself making an instantly cool structure! To accent their work they made little cork tree’s with mesh vegetable bag leaves for toppers.

What fun it was to watch them work, formulating and calculating their building process. Even better were the smiles on their faces at their achievement!

Metallic Paint

Gabby likes pretty colors, so when she found metallic pink, purple and blue acrylics she knew she had to make a

grand scene.

Boxes and tin containers set the stage for  a pretty castle structure while fancy trimmings helped give this castle it’s regal flair. The tiny treasures made for perfect inhabitants.

What a fancy place to live!

Egg Cartons

Egg cartons brought double inspiration our way at Charlotte’s 9th birthday today. Knowing she loves owls inspired crafting them as the party’s “ice breaker” activity when kids arrived for party fun.

I knew just how we would create fabulous little owls using egg carton parts thanks to a lovely owl that hangs in the tree at CReATE made by a very crafty Meg earlier this spring.

These little guys were so easy to make! We Dissected the carton into two halves, then used half the top for the body and cut two side by side cups from the egg side for eyes, if you lay the egg section face down the cups look especially like eyes and a beak! the party girls embellish with their favorite owlry goods for cute and crafty friends!
