Weekly WOW!

Creativity seems to be the power that makes the wheels of imagination turn. When the power is turned on, the ideas just keep coming. That’s how it seemed for Jack as he built his robot man. Bits and pieces were coming together in a way that felt so fun for him, he spent the whole two hour session working on it. I wonder if this is how George Lucas felt as he developed the first characters for Star Wars? WOW.

May I quote you?

Albert Einstein ought to know…
When I think of creativity and the ways I see it expressed at the studio I am reminded that it is the way we process our thoughts into ideas. We are wired to conjure possibilities and solve challenges in all our daily affairs. Art is a realm where creativity is easily recognized, but creativity spreads vastly beyond that means. Whether we create something to look at, a recipe, a detailed spreadsheet or a book report we apply our creativity.
How are you expressing that part of yourself today?

Plastic Forks!
I can imagine spooky skeletons made from these. I have also seen them used as a pom pom maker! The possibilities are endless of course. It’s just a questioned of what is imagined…

Weekly WOW!

This may look like a drawing, the kind of thing we have all seen before, but I am struck by more.

During the first few minutes of a birthday party, when all of the kids we working in their ice breaker projects, Cole was drawing this picture. He took the time to develop the picture into full color then proceeded to mount it on one of the wood panels that had been donated by the Awards shop recently. He was careful when using the masking tape to hold the illustration in place. I appeared done but, one last thing was needed. He wanted to name his work. “Grace” he called it.
I was impressed with his process but then, as the party went on I realized who Grace was. He had drawn a picture of himself with his younger sister, Grace. WOW! Now thats a boy of good character.

Food for Thought…

I love a good quote. It gives me something to connect to, an idea that feels
good to hear. Today, this quote is on my mind, I believe it to be true.

“As long as we’re creating, we’re cultivating meaning”

Instagram is a great tool for seizing little Aha’s in time that catches my eye and brings me to the moment at hand.
This week @createstudio these moments called my attention to creativity in direct ways and expressive things like a word on a sidewalk, a pumpkin gentleman, a saying, painting feet, a spooky house, a sewing ninja and a quiet mouse, Ah…

Weekly WOW!

Mia made the cutest little mouse from a rock and a sock!
I am so impressed by the inspiration and the vision she had for the little rock beneath it all! I must say, seeing in the unseen is a common occurrence at CReATE but is always a big WOW to see.

Weekly WOW!

Sadie was so focused the other day when she was here at the studio creating.
When her family was ready to pack up I noted with awe, what she had been working so diligently. It was a hand crafted teddy bear made simply of yarn she had cut into bits and fastened together with masking tape, so clever.
Creativity happens when we are the quiet of the moment allowing ideas unfold into realities.
