Sun Glasses

Sometimes the the most everyday item will spark your imagination.

A pair of sunglasses did that for Lisa. She made herself a pair of  silly disguise glasses for just about any costumed occasion using the glasses she found in the “small treasures” bin. A big pink button reminded her of a piggy snout which she gave depth to by adding the cup of an egg carton. A few feathers and a pipe cleaner brought the whole look together, you can’t help but smile at this disguise!

Keep an eye out for more wacky disguise and costume fun like Lisa’s as we get our Halloween costume goodies in later this month.

Cardboard Canisters

Brothers Thomas and Henry made brobots from cardboard canisters.

They spent nearly their whole two hour session perfecting the expressions, limbs and parts from many of the popular bot bins; “Screws, Nails and Machine Parts, “Pipe Cleaners and Fluff Balls” and the underdog favorite “Clips and Brads”. Trying different pieces on for size was the best part of giving their creations personality. Their bots happy smirks show us that they were made with love and inspiration. I am sure they will all share many great adventures!

Candy Wrappers

When these two friends visited the studio they knew they wanted to invent matching creations.Their inspiration was kick started right away when they saw a bow made from a candy wrapper  on one of the studio creations to inspire. It wasn’t long before they had  ideas for little someones to put a candy wrapper bow on! With scups of t-shirt fabric from the fabric bin some little googly eyes and the use of their drawing skills they created a batch of cuddly friends, three sweet little bunnies. Now they have matching creations and memories to share for a long time to come.

Cardboard Boxes

Weekly Wow! Cardboard boxes…
It’s great to be inspired by others, especially when they are your peers. To see that something they do can be possible for you to do is likely what makes our planet turn.

Sophie, Sarah and their family felt the twang of inspiration after watching Caine’s Arcade-a short film about a boy who used his imagination to create his dream arcade

A trip to CReATE helped them jump-start their inspired arcade ideas into action with a Basketball Game Box and a Soccer Game Box-I see a fun pass opportunity here!

Container Lids

24 lids make up the seating of Remy’s Littlest Pet Shop Limo creation.

Having received some hand-me-down Littlest Pet toys recently Remy was inspired to give them something fun to do. She set to creating a vehicle that could hold many toys at once. Various lids from the Container Lids material bin made perfect seating. Now what better activity for new toy friends than cruising around in style, checking out all the sights of her room and home. What a great re-use of  every day household items!

Wood Pieces

Wood is always a good material for building a home, so why not use it on a home for  feathered friends.

The wood pieces bin provided Julia with all kinds of scrap bits for puzzling together an eye-catching surface on a kleenex box frame. Some film strips on the roof will help whisk any rain or dew drops away when the house is nestled in a tree outdoors.

The golf tee made a perfect perch for sitting and singing the day away or heading indoors for some cozy home time.

Fabric

Fernando’s Pillow Monster is as charming as they come.

Crafted from an inspired idea to make a monster pillow Fernando searched the fabric bin for just the right soft stuff to make his vision real. Hot glue joined the vision together for a roaring monster man. So cuddly cute!

Cardboard Sheets

Talk about up cycling! Cardboard can be so much more than layers of  compressed paper…

Once a  giant furniture box packed with a chair , the box for this creation was cut down to become many nice sheets of cardboard ready to put together in just the right way for whoever would use it.

Annie and Keylie thought it was the perfect material  for a project they planned to collaborate on. They turned a few sheets they gathered into a nice cozy home for a little cork family. Once the structure was made they worked on all the important amenities, a roaring fire, a little baby in a crib, nice big windows, a loving family dog and a pretty table and table cloth with a good book. The house was made and happy. What a nice place to spend their time, but do be quite, the baby is sleeping.

Plastic food container

Seeing the possibilities in the everyday, that’s what we do at CReATE.

For Alexa, a fruit cup container was a natural lead to the head of a doll she was making. It gave her just the right space for facial features with buttons and a fabulous do of yarn!

In minutes she created a little friend that boosts her confidence in her abilities and makes her smile wide.

Shredded Paper

Love makes the world go around, that’s what’s been said.

It’s the sentiment that Gwynn wanted to share with her shredded paper creation that simply says, Love.

She was inspired by  something she saw in the studio so she made her own interpretation with a bit of shredded paper, some white glue and a touch of sparkle.

Well said Gwynn!
