Planning is key. Brookside 5th graders know how to get the task accomplished from learning and planing at achool to making at CReATE.
We saw first hand the rewards of project project based learning. The students were thoughtful, energized, collaborative, and considerate. They are kids and kids are smart.
This is the stuff of leaders in the making.

open studio time until our $5 Family Fun Night tonight as part of our TGIF fun.
The theme is “Dream Catchers”. This is the perfect fit for family togetherness and happy dreams at home afterward. Come join us. Wear pajamas if you like, it’s happening from 5-8pm.

We had the coolest day with Brookside 5th graders today. They visited us as inventors crafting items what would have been helpful to Native Indian cultures long ago.
The students came to the studio with blueprints of their inventions, ready to build and make! These are the movers and shakers of our future.

I had been talking to Marley’s mom about our philosophy on creativity then happened upon these two treasures that Marley made which spoke to the point.
The paper doll Mom and the little wire Marley are expressions of who Marley is and how she sees her world. She tuned in to having the freedom and materials to be self expressive. This process expanded her creativity inot an ongoing flow.
Marley is clearly in touch with her creativity and it’s a window to the world she sees, now we can see it to.

One of our favorites is D.I.Y. costume making. Step into the world of make believe with a costume you create from our costume cart. We’ve got lots of fixins’ on hand to get your imagination soaring!
The heart of a heart is who you share it with. Ella’s family tree project makes a full heart.
Projects that explore the history of family are a beatuful thing. When else do we roll out the family history with our to reminisce. A project like this makes history alive for kids, connective in a literal way. Ella and her mom took time and care to make sure they got the grandmas, grandpa’s and cousins just so.
Now their tree stands tall.

Today was a birthday kind of day.
A family stopped in to create together for Grandma’s birthday as one of her celebratory activities.
Here all family hands are involved in the painting and gluing of a mixed media canvas keepsake to commemorate the special day.
