Ahoy Matey from aboard a swift cork raft!
Make yer own raft with a few corks and rubber bands for an easy and fun creating at home project. Add a toothpick for a mast and a triangle of paper (taped or glued) for a sail. Great for bath or pool time fun! (*watch for small parts with the little ones)

Last Slime Time Summer Day

We have one more Summer Slime Time day tomorrow, 7/27 from 3:30-5:30pm where kids spend time in the present moment making hands-on recipes of simple chemistry magic.
It may just look like slime but there’s a world of response and reaction happening with the ingredients that connects us to the wonders of science.
Call us at 818-575-9566 to sign-up your slime lover. There are just a few spots left!

We’re in the Acorn!

We’re honored to be included in Whitney Schwartz’s Healthy Lifestyle Includes Reusing, Recycling Trash article on page 32 of last week’s issue of The Acorn Newspaper mentioned as one of the local places that reuse and recycle to help our planet! We love bridging a connection between creativity and recycling for reuse. Whitney’s article gave us inspiration as we learned in her article about other ways local businesses are making an environmental connection.

The power to Chose

Follow-through.
“When you pick the things you want to do, you’re more inclined to see them through”
This Mary Poppins style rhyme came to me as I noticed that when kids have the freedom to chose the creating they want to do they tend to follow-through. Bob Buford’s quote; “Don’t just dream big; follow through” marks the value of what I see when kids have a choice in what they do. Its easy to give them choices at CReATE, they find the materials that interest them and then find their way through their big ideas and inspirations make them happen because along the way they get invested, they get magic of follow through.
Giving kids opportunities to make their own choices is more than just that. It’s making a real connection to ideas becoming real, making dreams come true, all because of their inner drive to persevere. Each time they follow through on something it builds on their stick-to-itness so they have it for some of life’s bigger opportunities, quests and challenges.
Big dreams become choices to make and actions to take and to think,  it can all start with times kids can choose what they want to do.

Making Memories

I love this week’s quote about memories made, “The best things in life are the people we love, the places you’ve seen and the memories you’ve made along the way” -unknown.
I think about all the times kids have connected with each other at CReATE. Sometimes they make the studio their meet-up place, sometimes they come in together and sometimes they happen to meet at the studio for the first time and spark a friendship. Either way they are making memories and that just warms my heart to the core.
This past week there were lots of new friendships blossoming during Camp CReATE and thats just how it should be during summer camp. I hope the memories that were made last a lifetime and keep a special spot in our camper friends hearts. I know they have made a special spot in mine. Yay for camp!
