Paper…

As our spotlight on paper continues this month, we share an easy reuse craft that happens to be a perfect “Creating At Home” project to do.

We took a few cards an cut them in just a few snips into gift tags that are perfect for any gift you give.

You’ll need a greeting card or postcard that’s already seen it’s day.

You need a pair of scissors and a hole punch if you have one. You can also just tape a tag to a gift.

Take your card and cut it into a rectangle, square or other favorite shape making sure to cut out the part of the card you want to feature. For our cards we cutvtriangles then snipped little triangles off the corners to get a traditional tag shape them punched a hole near the top for use with string or ribbon.

So easy.

When your done you’ll have tags for any gifts you have to give. Start now, and you’ll be all set for your holiday and any other gift giving needs.

Creativity is…

Creativity is inside everyone.
I got my hands on a copy of the August / September 2017 issue of Family Fun Magazine reading the article, “The Art of Being Creative” by Jennifer King Lindsey who wrote a great piece about Creativity. Hurray to our friend Meri Cherry who is mentioned in the article too!
As I read through the pages I felt a resounding yes rise in my throat. I have come to the conclusion myself that creativity is an aspect of our inner mechanics as humans. We all have it, BUT, we don’t all think we do. That’s why CReATE lays it’s focus on creativity for all, art fun for all. I know that each person is creative, I also know that creativity spans reaches of our thinking capabilities far beyond what we tap into. The family Fun article suggests and I know it for sure myself, that creativity grows when exercised.
I think of creativity as a brain muscle. When it’s used regularly, like any other muscle, it strengthens. Our thinking options expand and new possibilities grow. Creativity is often linked to problem solving and critical thinking, in fact I’d say it’s deeply woven into those processes.
We tend to get caught up on the word and the idea of creativity because it’s often branded as an artistic, even craft skill. If we don’t connect with those avenues of self expression we assume we don’t have a creative bone. Think again, in practical ways we bring creativity to our scheduled days, our balanced checkbooks and our planned meals. Creativity is always with us, in our day to day as well as the unique moments and it’s ready to jump into action any time we ask. Call on your creativity. It can’t wait to serve you.

Try something new.

Come hang out and create with us today. We’re open from 12-4pm.

You can make something in a creative realm you haven’t thought of before. Take this denim clutch purse by Sydney. She had never explore sewing before. She learned about construction and machine Sewing in the process of making it. She was so proud when she was done.

That’s a great feeling!

Happy Friday!

We’ve go hands-on fun for you today.
Join us for Messy Toddler Art Fun at 10am making “Beaded Necklaces”, getting painty, gluing like crazy and more!
Then, we’re open for drop-in creating from 11am-6pm where it-s always a hands-on process to make your ideas come alive so come in and let your creativity flow.

Doodly…

Mrs. Ha, the Art Teacher at Campus Canyon in Moorpark uses her resources wisely in her classroom and inspires everyone who sees it,  which is largely covered with white paper and lots of hand drawn playful expressions about creativity and art. It has totally set the tone for self expression and artistic flair! Love it! The bonus is to do it she used what she had; paper and markers to inspire her students.

Happy Thursday!
